The transfer window is well and truly open at Brunton Park and Mark Hughes has already made five new signings so far this summer. There has only been one outgoing so far and removing some players may be difficult due to long contracts and some players being on a lot of money for non-league level.
The inability to move some players on may force Mark Hughes to use players he may not have wanted to initially. Today I’m going to look at three forgotten men that could be given a lifeline at Brunton Park.
Cedwyn Scott
The 26-year-old striker was signed by Mike Williamson in January and saw a lot of game time under Williamson but since Mark Hughes’ arrival it was obvious that Scott was not in the manager’s plans. From March until the end of the season Scott was an unused substitute once.
Scott has a great pedigree of scoring goals in non-league after his time with Gateshead and Notts County and this could come in very useful if he’s called upon.

Luke Armstrong
The 29-year-old striker has found his time at Brunton Park very tough and has been criticised heavily by the supporters in his time at the club. Armstrong has had had spells with Hartlepool and Harrogate where he scored lots of goals but found goals hard to come by at Carlisle.
Armstrong was sent out on loan to SPFL side Motherwell in January and he impressed in his time there scoring 4 goals in 14 appearances. He was another player like Scott that Mark Hughes obviously didn’t want to use but given his long contract he may be hard to move on and could be used next season in the National League.

Ethan Robson
The 28-year-old midfielder was signed last summer with a lot of expectation but due to injuries never really got a chance to get going in a Carlisle United shirt. Robson was sent out on loan to Gateshead in January but only managed to make 3 appearances before getting injured and was sent back to Brunton Park to rehab his injury.
The midfielder if he can stay fit could be add some quality to Mark Hughes’ side. Robson has the ability to create and score goals if given the chance but it will all depend on his fitness levels.

These are just three players that I’m unsure if they will get a move away which will then lead to Mark Hughes potentially using them at some point. Is there anyone you think we have missed? Please let us know!
